Okay, I know what you’re thinking…lettuce?! The answer is yes. I’ve always been a big fan of packing my smoothies with a punch—kale, spinach, flax seed–those are all great additions to a fruit smoothie. But lettuce?! Well I did it. And it actually turned out great.
See, it was one of those mornings when I needed to use up some ingredients. I was headed to out of town work and there was no way I’d eat a head of lettuce in two days. Even if I had a bunch of big salads. So a little lettuce in my smoothie sounded like a good option. Here’s the recipe:
Lean, Green Lettuce-In-My-Smoothie Protein Machine:
- 2 frozen bananas
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 tsp. cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp. honey
- 1 1/2 cups vanilla yogurt
- 2 cups lettuce
- splash of apple juice
Blend all the ingredients together and add extra honey for taste.
Yummy and healthy! What could be better?
