Honey Sriracha Chicken – Spicy and Healthy!

Fan of spicy, but still healthy? Me too.

I love getting my food with a little kick [not too much though, I’m still a wimp!] but I’m a huge fan of recipes that have maximum flavor with minimum calories. And despite what you may think…those recipes do exist! Like this one:

Honey Sriracha Chicken:

This is one of my favoriteeee chicken recipes! It’s similar to a garlicy-tasting orange chicken, but without the fatty oils and deep-fryness. Yay!

Ingredients:

Sauce Ingredients:

How To:

Part 1: Set your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Beat your eggs and put them in a large mixing bowl. Spray a baking pan/dish [9 x 13 is the best size] with non-stick cooking spray. Season your chicken pieces with salt and pepper, then dip the chunks in the egg until they’re coated. Then press them into the breadcrumbs until they’re coated, and when done, put them in your baking dish.

Part 2: Bake chicken for 15-20 minutes or until chicken is crispy and golden-brown. When there’s about 5 minutes left for the chicken, combine soy, honey, garlic, and Sriracha in a saucepan under medium/medium-high heat. Then in a separate bowl, combine cornstarch and 1/3 cup water. Stir the water/starch mix slowly into the sauce pan until the sauce is thick [typically takes 3-5 minutes].

Part 3: Combine sauce and chicken. Stir until chicken is coated, then add green onion and sesame seeds! I serve mine over rice and with a side of veggies. Up to you how you want to serve it, but be prepared for an amazing spicy, but healthy treat!
