Hey you! This is your reminder that you DESERVE to Hey you! This is your reminder that you DESERVE to eat healthy foods. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our schedules and commitments that we forget to prioritize ourselves. Sometimes we focus so much on our work, our obligations, or helping our families that we neglect our needs (moms + dads, I'm talking to you!).⠀
⠀
Take the time to make yourself a good meal.⠀
Take the time to prioritize your needs.⠀
Take the time to LOVE your body.⠀

You deserve it. ❤️⠀
I used to spend $9-10 on an #acaibowl when I first I used to spend $9-10 on an #acaibowl when I first moved to California. They are just SO GOOD and I couldn't resist. But now I know better. Here's the trick: ⠀
⠀
❤️ Find acai pouches at your local grocery store (I recommend a wholesale store because they'll be bigger amounts but cheaper).⠀
⠀
❤️ Warm the packet up (you can leave it in the sun for about 15-20 seconds or put it in hot water until it partly thaws).⠀
⠀
❤️ Add frozen berries (blueberries, strawberries, and black/raspberries are the best, in my opinion).⠀
⠀
❤️ Drizzle with honey and granola. (Optional: Add banana slices, cocoa powder, protein powder, or stir in a little apple juice or oat milk for a more creamy flavor!)⠀
⠀
Enjoy cold. ❄️⠀

As a #bonusmom, I have a really important job, esp As a #bonusmom, I have a really important job, especially when it comes to mealtimes. As the "house chef" as I like to call myself (with pride 😜), I have the responsibility of making sure my humans get the right nutrients, vitamins, fruits, veggies, etc. ⠀
⠀
Sometimes it's hard to sneak those veggies in, but salads do the trick. Put a little spicy #veganranch on top, and I can get away with lettuce, spinach, AND kale.⠀
Every morning I take this little guy for a walk ar Every morning I take this little guy for a walk around the block. We go early, before the world wakes up. Usually, my boyfriend goes with me. Sometimes his son comes, too. ⠀
⠀
It's our little routine, a little way to jolt myself from the early morning work and into the start of the "real" day. It's a little bit of exercise. It's fresh air. It's a reminder that even if the world feels weird right now, my dog has no damn idea. He's just happy to smell nature. And maybe I could learn a little from him. 🐾⠀
"What does your self-care look like?" One of my fr "What does your self-care look like?" One of my friends asked me this the other day. She's a stay-at-home mom of two and both of her kids are younger than twelve. We were talking about the craziness of the current times and how hard it is to balance kids, work, household duties, romantic relationships, caregiving, and everything else.⠀
⠀
Her self-care is escaping for late-night appetizers and drinks with girlfriends, or deep conversations on the beach during the day with kids in tow. I thought about my own #selfcareroutine and how much it's shifted since the start of the pandemic.⠀
⠀
I have to admit, sometimes I struggle to wash my damn face, let alone have a "routine." 🙈😅 BUT, I'm trying to invest in myself as much as I invest in my family and work. I know that balance is important; I know that I have to value myself if I want to feel good. And I deserve to feel good. (Read that again because it applies to you, too: You deserve to feel good.)⠀
⠀
Yesterday, I indulged in an @alyaskinaus face mask, I did my hair in bubble braids, put on my favorite sundress, and sat outside on the patio for thirty minutes and read a book I've "never had the time for." It was simple, but it was a little rebellion against everything in the world right now.⠀
⠀
Self-care doesn't have to be big.⠀
Self-care doesn't have to look like someone else's.⠀
Self-care is not selfish.⠀
Self-care is important because YOU are important.⠀
