Self-care needs to be practical. You need to feel like you’re doing something positive for yourself, and you need to feel like it’s manageable for you to do in the long-term. If your mind doesn’t feel calmer and quieter after carrying out a ‘self-care activity,’ then it probably wasn’t right for you! (And that’s ok). Part of the process of learning to love yourself is figuring out what makes sense for you.
Here are a few suggestions to get you started:

Connect With A Loved One
Many people consider self-care a private thing. You get some time to yourself and indulge in a little bit of pampering. That’s great and all, but sometimes you can (and should!) invite other people into your self-care bubble.
Whether you’re inviting someone to do a spa day or simply picking up the phone and giving someone a call to check-in, this can make all the difference to your inner sense of happiness (and theirs!). Remember, you never know what someone else is going through—connecting with them could be exactly what they need right now. You’re doing them a favor just as much as you’re doing yourself one.
Start With The Basics
When it comes to self-care, there are thousands of suggestions, ideas, remedies, etc. to have the “best” experience. But sometimes less is more. Self-care needs to be practical; so, start with the basics—your skin, hair, nails, and hands/feet—and go from there!
Your hands and feet are often overlooked, so focus on giving them the pampering they deserve. (Apart from your face, these appendages go through the most through the day!) Every time you wash your hands, apply some moisturizing lotion to them. Make sure you rub the lotion into your palms, between your fingers, and into your cuticles.
And don’t neglect your feet, either! Infections, especially fungal infections, are more common than you realize. This is because our feet are often sweaty and/or the moistest parts of our body. If you suspect you have a toenail or foot fungus, you might ask: does Emuaid work on nail fungus? It does, and whether you try Emuaid or something else, don’t let the fungus fester. Intervene early! Know the signs, keep your feet clean, and exfoliate them at least once a week.
Give To Others
Self-care can often be “selfish” because you’re focusing on your own needs. But, it doesn’t have to be! Giving to others can make you feel good, too! Whether volunteering, supporting a cause, or simply donating money, you can make an impact for others while also filling you with joy about making a difference.
Bottom line: Self-care shouldn’t be superficial. If it doesn’t make you feel better, swap the activity out for something more practical, simple, or fun.
