5 Foods That Are Good For Your Teeth

It’s not always easy to keep your teeth healthy, clean, and strong. Sure, we are taught from a young age to look after our teeth. . . but keeping up with that hygiene in our teen and adult years can sometimes be tough (especially if we’re not taking the risks seriously). In actuality, our mouth health isn’t that complicated: If you want to prevent tooth decay, it’s important to consume foods that are good for your teeth.

Here are a few foods to add to your diet (and why):

1. Fruits Packed With Fiber

You need fiber to keep your teeth and your gums clean. Your body also needs healthy sugars, which can be found in fruits like apples, strawberries, raspberries, etc. Just make sure that you are flossing properly to remove any stuck seeds. 

2. Vegetables (Especially Leafy Green Ones!)

One of the foods that is good for your teeth is vegetables. Celery and carrots are great for cleaning your mouth out properly and removing plaque from your teeth while you chew. Leafy veggies can also help to provide you with the right nutrients (and it’s recommended that you have at least five servings of this per day).

3. All Kinds Of Nuts

If you want a good source of calcium, then nuts are a good way to go! Brazilian nuts and cashews are a great source of calcium that can help to keep your bones and teeth strong. Nuts also play a big role in mineralizing teeth as well.

4. Fish

If you are a fan of fish, then great! Consuming fish is great for your teeth. Salmon is a great addition to your diet because it has an important mineral for protecting enamel. Salmon is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D, too.

5. Dairy Products (Or Dairy Supplements)

If you want to grow healthy bones and teeth, then you need dairy products in your diet. These food items can help to provide your enamel with the right minerals, too. Dairy products help to rebuild tooth enamel and make your teeth much stronger and less prone to breakage.

However, if you’re allergic/intolerant to dairy, you can get some of these minerals through dairy-free alternatives, too. Just be sure to read the packaging labels to figure out what products are best for substitutes!
