The Value of Quiet Time

If you’re anything like me, your normal day is go go go. You run from one activity to the next, one part-time job to the next, one social even to the next.

Us busy-bodies get a lot of crap for always being on the move. And I’m the type of person who will argue you to death when you try to tell me I’m too busy. Sorry I’m productive. (Que the sassy voice) Um…I’m getting things done and I feel good. I’m motivated, how about you? Hit me with any line about my life being too crazy and I’ll have a comeback (Some a little snappier than others.)

But if there’s one thing I’ve learning in having a jam-packed schedule, it’s that time to relax is just as important as getting everything on my list checked off.

The value of quiet time:Quiet TimeOne of my personal favorite ways of relaxing: sun bathing. I just loveeee being lazy in the sun! I also love to write (poetry, stories, thoughts, etc.) blog, paint my nails, take a bubble bath, take long showers that include singing along to my favorite playlists, watch back-to-back Netflix episodes in my pjs, bake yummy desserts or meals I can freeze for later, color (you’re never too old to color!), nap, or just lay down and think.

Having ‘You-Time’ is important to refresh, to re-energize, and to love yourself. Even on the busiest of days, give yourself a little time to just wind down. And this is quiet time. Alone time. Different than spending time with friends. Even if you’re the type of person who loves being around others, you still need time for just yourself. So turn off your phone for a while, kick off your shoes, and soak up some Vitamin D–it’s good for your body, mind, and soul!
